Margot was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on August 20, 1988. Known for her career in both the TV and film industries. She gained widespread prominence for her role as jazz singer Daughter Maitland in the HBO period drama series Boardwalk Empire. In 2016, she appeared as Bree in the film Barbershop: The Next Cut.

Following her high school graduation in 2010, she moved to New York City to pursue acting. She began appearing on stage, including in the 2011 revival of the musical Rent.
