Actor who won the Academy Award for Best Actor for portraying the troubled Lester Burnham in American Beauty and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the criminal Verbal Kint in the 1995 film The Usual Suspects. In 2013, he began starring as Frank Underwood on the Netflix series House of Cards. The role earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series in 2015.
While attending Juilliard School of Drama, he performed stand-up comedy at local bowling alley talent contests.
