Jay was born in South Africa on September 11, 1977. Pop singer who became known as the frontman of the South African group Eden. He has also enjoyed a successful solo career, and performed on stage with well-known acts such as The Corrs, Ronan Keating and Westlife. He won a local GMT Award for Best Pop Album.

He got his start doing musical theatre in 1996. His debut was as the lead singer in the musical Let’s Rock in 1999.
