Benjamin was born in Santa Barbara on August 22, 1978. Architect, designer, lecturer, and entrepreneur who is known for being the founder of HomeMadeModern. He specializes in environmentally conscious architecture and shares photos of his designs along with personal projects and other tips and tutorials with his over 140,000 followers.

He earned his B.A. and Masters degree in Architecture from Cornell University. Upon graduating, he was hired as a visiting lecturer where he emphasized sustainable design. In 2006, he co-founded ZeroEnergy Design. In 2008, he began FreeGreen.com further expanding his work within the environmental architecture community.

Did you know: In 2010, he won the U.S. Green Building Council’s Natural Talent Design Competition for creating affordable green home designs for the New Orleans’ Broadmoor neighborhood after Hurricane Katrina. He is also known for having written and published several pieces in the Huffington Post.
