Travis, our guy at number 10, knows how to deal with pressure. He’s no stranger to the limelight, having played in three Super Bowls and bagged two wins (no biggie!). He’s even hosted Saturday Night Live, so he’s got a knack for handling the spotlight.
You might think, “So what?” But it’s important. Taylor’s written a few songs about her worries. She fears her fame might be too much for her lover to bear. Songs like “Peace” and “The Archer” give us a glimpse into this fear.
Taylor’s take on it? “It all depends who you’re with,” she said. If her partner can’t handle it, she feels like she’s on the run. “I don’t want to feel like a fugitive, like, ‘Oh my god, we’re having a relationship, better hide!'”
She craves normalcy in a relationship. “I feel like if you can be in a relationship and have it seem normal, that would be good.”
Travis, in his WSJ interview, showed he’s up for the challenge. Dating someone as influential as Taylor? He’s ready.
He admitted, “Obviously I’ve never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them…I’ve never dealt with it.” But he’s not scared. “I’m not running away from any of it.”
He understands the scrutiny Taylor faces. The constant paparazzi, the magnifying glass on her every move. “When she acts like that I better not be the one acting all strange.” He gets it.
