Reasons Tarek El Moussa Stayed in Halfway House Following Divorce

Tarek El Moussa’s world got turned on its head. It happened when he and Christina Hall, his wife, called it quits. He’s a host on HGTV and he opened up about the tough times he went through post-split in 2016. Christina, his co-star on Flip or Flop, is also the mother of his two kids – Taylor, 13, and Brayden, 8.

He got real on the Jan. 8 episode of The Jeff Fenster Show podcast. “When my ex left me, I went to some soul-searching places,” he confessed. A bit of a shocker – he admitted to living in a halfway house. “This is my first time sharing that,” he added.

Why’d he check into the institution? It wasn’t forced. He chose to. These places usually offer social, medical, and psychiatric help to those staying there. Tarek was lost. He needed round-the-clock care.

He didn’t sugarcoat it. “It was pretty bad,” he said. He felt like he’d lost it all, just like that, overnight.

Looking back, he saw his marriage to the Christina on the Coast star in a different light. A year before they ended things, he felt a “dark cloud” hanging over him. He admitted, “I wasn’t the best guy. I wasn’t the best husband.” And it didn’t stop there. He felt he failed as a father, a son, a friend. “I just wasn’t the best human,” he confessed.
