In the end, she tells the person, “You’re the loss of my life.” It could be about her long-term relationship with Joe, but the lyrics hint at something else.
Lines about “rekindled flames” and “we were just kids, babe” suggest it’s about her reconnection with Matty after all these years. She confesses, “I’ve felt a glow like this never before and never since.”
Then there’s “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.” This song seems to be about Taylor conquering her Eras Tour despite heartbreak. She’s “hittin’ my marks” on stage, cheered on by a crowd.
She conceals her feelings behind a brave facade: “Lights, camera, bitch smile.” The song’s upbeat, but it’s laced with lyrics about unreciprocated love.
