When Anastacia Kasmer and her husband Marcel found out they were expecting twins, they decided it was the perfect time to delve deeper into their family history. They turned to Ancestry and AncestryDNA for answers. Anastacia was hoping for some context and discovered some unexpected surprises. “We were ready to grow our family. What we weren’t expecting were twins,” says Anastacia, “and the first thing my mom said to my dad was, ‘twins run in your family.'”

Anastacia discovered that twins run on both the maternal and paternal sides of her family. The experience of discovering her family’s history has been extremely impactful for Anastacia, and she said, “seeing photos, seeing documents has been extremely powerful. I think it has more meaning now, because I’m growing my family and just feeling the connection that I didn’t have at all growing up.”

Inspired by what she had learned about her family’s history through Ancestry records and AncestryDNA test results, Anastacia and Marcel created a gift for their twins and 19-month-old son, Maël. They created a gallery wall with photos, documents, and artifacts that tell the stories of the generations that came before them. The couple wanted their children to know their origin story from day one.

Anastacia has now prepared the nursery for her new arrival and is excited about sharing her family’s story with her new-borns. The experience with Ancestry has given her insight into not only her roots, but also the importance of having a connection to her family’s history. She added, “I think it’s so powerful to remember where you came from, remember your history, because it’s what made you who you are today.” Anastacia and her husband Marcel have set an inspiring example for their new children, the importance of understanding where they come from, and the importance of family connection and history.
